KATELL – an excellent foundation for Appaloosa breeding

KATELL is a beautiful broodmare and an excellent foundation for anyone looking to start or build an Appaloosa breeding programme.

She comes from a strong New Zealand dam line. Her mother, Waitakere Jazzmin, was imported from New Zealand and has already produced three Appaloosa offspring at Stal Herfte. One of her sons was sold as a breeding stallion, and one of her daughters is now a valuable broodmare within our herd.

KATELL has also proven her quality. In combination with Poet’s Worker’s Pride, she produced two Appaloosa offspring. Her youngest daughter, Herfte Whitney (see 1st photo), achieved 2nd place at the Alpaca Show in Tolbert 2026 and was praised by the judges for her robust build, true-to-type head, and fine fleece. Whitney will remain in our herd as a breeding mare. As we now have several strong animals from this maternal line, we have decided to make KATELL available for sale.

Her other daughter, Abby, achieved a fleece micron test of 16.4 last year.

This year, KATELL is pregnant again, this time by a Leopard Appaloosa stallion. She is due in July with Herfte Charles, the Appaloosa Colour Champion of Tolbert 2025. Charles is also a son of Poet’s Worker’s Pride, a stallion who has proven to be an excellent match for these dam lines.
